RISE: QTIPOC Representation and Visibility in Film
23 March @ 12:00 - 22:00Free
BFI are delighted to have partnered with The Art Machine to bring you RISE – an exploration of QTIPOC
(queer, transgender and intersex people of colour) representation and visibility in film. Elevating the
narratives of QTIPOC characters, RISE will provide a platform to examine the importance of inclusion, both
on and off screen, whilst inspiring a generation of directors, screenwriters, filmmakers and producers to
develop work which best reflects their stories.
Join us for this one-day event, featuring a series of intimate workshops with established industry
professionals alongside panel discussions and film screenings. Culminating in an after-party celebration, we
hope this experience will affirm the power of film as a disruptive medium that can broaden the lens and
draw attention to the nuanced experiences of QTIPOC people.
Please note, this is a free event, but tickets will need to be reserved in advance via the BFI box office on 020 7928 3232.
The Art Machine is a non-profit organisation aimed at engaging artists to create work that will ignite positive social change, highlighting the stories of marginalised communities, whose voices may have been suppressed, disregarded or simply unheard in modern society.
