In the summer of 2020 we launched a GoFundMe to support Black LGBTQ+ creatives and raised £25,000. I can’t believe that was nearly two years ago, time flies when you’re in a pandemic.

We pledged £10,000 of funds raised to award 10 Black LGBTQ+ creatives to create a project of their choosing. The first 5 awardees were chosen in 2020 (you can read about their incredible projects here) and we’re now so excited to announce that we’ll be opening applications for the next cohort today.

With the remaining half of the funds, we’ll be awarding 5 individuals with £1,000 each, the fund will enable the creatives to create a piece of art and amplify their voice through their chosen medium.

We’re also excited to share that we will be teaming with DJ Mag again to provide sponsorship for an electronic music-focused project. This is in line with their commitment to continue supporting Black creatives in the music industry.

AZ Mag has and will always aim to support and amplify the work of QTBPOC and the AZ Creative Fund is another way of doing that. We are so excited to read all the applications from all the talented individuals and collectives.
