Spend A Moment With…Liyah

What’s the first thing you do in the morning?

Admittedly one of the first things I do in the morning is cliché- I say “thank you” just for another day I guess. I can’t explain as I’m not religious but it’s part of what I do. I don’t do it every morning but some here and some there. I then go on a hunt to find my phone that is usually hidden somewhere in my bed- most likely under my back. I go on Instagram looking through, to find anything motivational to get me going. Then once I check through my notifications I get up and put the kettle on.

What inspired you to write your book?

My inspirations stem from my own experiences and those who around me. That’s the reason why I’m in love with what I am doing. I’m very passionate about my work, the realism & the relatability. There are equal amounts of fact and fiction within this novel and that’s the fun part; people asking “did that actually happen?” I simply smile & say “maybe, maybe not”.

What does a typical day involve?

Apart from writing, I spend time on developing other projects which I’m not ready to reveal but they are exciting and I cannot wait to share them. I’m a very social person and work well in any crowd and any social settings, I’m not afraid of adapting in order to gain knowledge on any situation.

What do you find most enjoyable about writing?

I’ve been writing for quite some time now, well for as long as I can remember. I love the concept of expression through this art form. Being able to spark emotions or innovate minds with words. I decided to take the leap into self-publishing because I believe in myself and what I’m trying to represent whole heartedly. To me it’s one of the most creative outlets. Sometimes I struggle with saying what’s on my mind or how I feel and it just comes easy to me once I put pen to paper.

Most memorable moment?

I have so many it’s unreal. I could tell you over a coffee and be talking for hours (lol).

I’m so enthusiastic I probably annoy people- but I love sharing time and making memories that’s really all I have.
I have memorable moments from each mile stone of my life. But the best ones are of me being silly or laughing with friends and being able to step outside of the moment to be like wow- I love this!

Likes…

I like tattoos, partial nudity and motivational quotes. I enjoy interior design and my home; I put so much effort into making sure my home is comfortable and that people feel great energy when they are there. It’s the biggest compliment when someone visits my home and say that they feel comfortable for feel a great energy. I’ve quite recently found an interest in bodysuits!

Dislikes…

Bad energy, spaghetti bolognese, corn beef and rice, chick flicks.

I dislike people who talk shit, don’t stand by what they believe in, people who waste a talent and a platform they have been given and people who can’t give a “yes” or “no” answer when required.

Childhood dream?

I used to change my mind all the time because I liked different things and didn’t think I could do them all at once. But ultimately my dream was to be happy and content with life….isn’t that what we all want?
