The Proud Trust is a LGBT youth charity who work with and support LGBT young people in Manchester, Greater Manchester and the North West. The Proud Trust runs a number of weekly youth groups for LGBT young people across the region and delivers outreach and awareness raising workshops in schools, colleges and youth groups, facilitating discussions and activities which enable young people to explore and better understand what gender and sexual orientation mean and mean to them. The Proud Trust also delivers professional training in the North West, ensuring that LGBT+ young people’s needs are heard and understood.
In 2015 The Proud Trust launched a new provision for BAME LGBT young people called Fusion. The group meets once a month and explores a range of topics and activities together. So far, some of the sessions have included exploring culture, identity, heritage, racism, faith, family and microaggressions. This April the group will be making zines about being BAME LGBT young people. Fusion have also recently teamed up with BAME young people from SAYIT Youth, the LGBT+ youth provision in Sheffield. Taking it in turns to host sessions in their cities, helping to broaden the young people’s friendships, networks and sense of belonging and community.
Fusion is a safe and friendly youth space for black and asian LGBT young people aged 13 – 19.
Fusion meet on the 3rd Sunday of each month from 2pm – 4pm at the LGBT Centre.
