Remi sat down with the musician Ziggy in the summer to see what she’s all about.

Remi: So how’s your food Ziggy?

Ziggy: *eating *

R: Will you be attending Brixton Splash tomorrow?

Z: It’s kind of like a street party right?

R: Yeah!

Z: Yeah I heard its pretty lit, imma be there, no doubt!

R: How is the food in comparison to American food?

Z: Same, it was good.

R: If I was to ask you where you’re from,what would you say?

Z: America, but I would say I’m black.

R: So in America, is it common for people not to know where they are from before they are American?

Z: Yeah, definitely, I definitely don’t.

R: Are you fine with that?

Z: I mean I would like to know but where would you start with the research? Where do you start with that?

R: It’s interesting, because we don’t really have a black British culture that is as strong as the culture that African Americans have in isolation from black countries.

R: Ziggy tell me about yourself?

Z: Google me baby!

*laughs*

Z: No I’m playing, but I am not going to tell you my age!

R: Why Not your Age?

Z: Because in the industry we all try and take it back some. If you are 24 you’ll be going by 21 that sort of thing, I was born in Washington DC.

R: Born and bred?

Z: Yep! I like long walks on the beach, I’m an Aquarius, my birthday is February 15.

R : What kind of girls do you like?

Z: I don’t have a type when it comes to girls, it’s personality to me.

R: How long have you been making music?

Z: A year, probably like a year

R: Who do you want to work with the most in the music industry?

Z: Chris Brown, he is just my guy man, my fanbase is the same age that I was when I was listening the people like CB and Sammie.

R: What is it about those artists?

Z: The lyrics where cool and relatable.

R: What is your genre?

Z: I’m kind of my own genre? I don’t think its Hip Hop, and its not RnB, its like a blend of the two, I’m not a singer and I’m not a rapper, I’m just me.
I think RnB is dead, there’s no stories in music anymore, I want to know how you got your heart broken, how you fell in love there’s none of that anymore. I want my music to come from experiences.

R: What do you think of trap music?

Z: I really don’t listen to it, its for the moment type music.

R: So what is on your playlist.

Z: J Cole

R: What’s your favourite J Cole song?

Z: I don’t even have one, but I like him. I don’t really listen to any other music but my music because, I don’t like to get distracted with someone else’s style. I like to stay in my lane.
